Volunteer

Reviewers are the backbone.

Volunteer reviewers classify, moderate, and maintain listing quality across the eleven coverage categories. Roughly 2 to 4 hours per month; training is provided.

What volunteers do

  • Review submissions. Across any of the eleven coverage categories you have context for. Pick categories that match your household experience.
  • Moderate community discussions. Keep reviews on-topic and on-evidence; flag content that needs council review.
  • Participate in council work. Active reviewers in good standing for 6+ months are eligible to stand for the community council.
  • Contribute to alerts curation. Help calibrate trigger thresholds based on what parents actually want to know.

Time commitment

Roughly 2 to 4 hours per month is typical. The pace is yours; bursts and quiet stretches both work.

Training

Onboarding is a short asynchronous course covering the rating model, the moderation guidelines, and the council process. Allow about 2 hours. No prior experience required.

Background check

Some review categories (toys for the under-3 set, food and snacks, content for elementary-age children) may require a background check once those review lanes are live. The process is documented in onboarding; if activated, the check is paid for by ParentProof and results remain confidential.
